HIV CARE

Although there is still no cure for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, or HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, it is a much more manageable condition and not the devastating diagnosis it was in the 1980’s and 90’s. There are now numerous highly effective antiviral medications, several of which are available in combination form. Many patients are able to take just one pill a day and live full and healthy lives. Our physicians offer compassionate, culturally sensitive, and complete HIV care, through the following services:

  • HIV education to patients, partners, and families

  • Physical examinations

  • Prescribing of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) treatment for HIV, with laboratory monitoring

  • Vaccinations

  • Treatment of hepatitis co-infections, as indicated

  • Screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STI’s)

  • Tuberculosis screening and treatment

  • Coordination of care with Obstetrics for HIV-infected pregnant women

  • Referrals to other physicians, health professionals, nutritional support services, case management services as appropriate
